The Washington Commanders continue to monitor the saga brewing in the Bay Area surrounding San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk.
The Commanders have been an unlikely fit for Aiyuk so far, but given her ties to the Niners with general manager Adam Peters, the team is unlikely to make any major moves.
“We’re always going to do what we think is best for the team,” Peters said. “So when a big move comes up and we look at each other and talk about it and think that’s what’s best for us in the short and long term, we’re going to think about it and make the move that’s best for the team. We’re not averse to it, but we’re not going to just make a big move for the sake of making a big move.”

Peters’ words aren’t the only reason Aiyuk is unlikely to come to DC. The team signed Noah Brown to a one-year deal after he was released by the Houston Texans earlier this week. With Brown likely to step in as the WR2 alongside Terry McLaurin, the team’s need for another receiver has moved down the priority list.
The Commanders are preparing for their season opener against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, with kickoff scheduled for Sunday, September 8 at 4:25 p.m. ET.
