Valve has officially announced Deadlock.
The announcement followed weeks of discussion about the game and footage that surfaced on social media.
The multiplayer title, which has been in closed beta for “friends and family” for some time, now has an official store page on Steam.
Deadlock is a 6v6 third-person hero shooter. Valve notes that the game is still in early development and that the current version of Deadlock contains “a lot of temporary graphics and experimental gameplay.”
A short trailer and concept art can be found on the game’s store page. Players can currently only access the game if they are invited by someone who is currently involved in playtesting.
Despite Valve’s secrecy surrounding the game, discussions about the game on social media have increased in recent weeks, with hours-long videos from the game’s closed playtest surfacing on social media.
There is currently no release date for Deadlock, nor has Valve listed minimum or recommended system requirements for the game on the Steam page.
Gabe Newell, co-founder and CEO of Valve, said in 2021 that the company had several games in development and was interested in creating more single-player experiences following the release of Half-Life Alyx the previous year.
The company’s last release was Counter-Strike 2 last year. Before that, the company had focused primarily on VR titles for a few years. Valve has reportedly developed and then canceled dozens of titles in recent years.
