Investing.com – British stocks were higher after the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Chemicals, Auto & Parts and Beverages sectors led shares higher.
At the close of trading in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 rose 0.10 percent.
The best performers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were JD Sports Fashion PLC (LON:JD), which rose 4.02% or 4.95 points to close at 128.15. Meanwhile, Airtel Africa Plc (LON:AAF) added 2.90% or 3.20 points to close at 113.60 and Croda International PLC (LON:CRDA) rose 2.10% or 81.00 points to 3,943.00 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Severn Trent PLC (LON:SVT), which fell 2.45% or 62.00 points to close at 2,470.00. Antofagasta PLC (LON:ANTO) declined 1.68% or 31.50 points to end at 1,849.00. 3I Group PLC (LON:III) was down 1.40% or 45.00 points to close at 3,172.00.
On the London Stock Exchange, advancing stocks outnumbered declining stocks by 1,014 to 694, and 761 stocks closed unchanged.
Gold futures for December delivery fell 0.28% or 7.05 to $2,543.55 a troy ounce. In commodities trading, Crude oil for October delivery fell 1.30% or 0.95 to $72.22 a barrel, while the October Brent oil contract fell 1.01% or 0.78 to $76.42 a barrel.
GBP/USD was unchanged 0.34% at 1.31, while EUR/GBP was unchanged 0.18% at 0.85.
US dollar index futures fell 0.22% to 101.07.
