This unstoppable power-up can even kill Zoro – Eiichiro Oda gave 3 Straw Hats insane power-ups, but can also seriously injure them in a fight

In Eiichiro Oda’s A piece, The Straw Hat Pirates’ journey has always fascinated fans, but it is Roronoa Zoro’s ambition that stands out among fans. Unlike other members of the pirate crew, the pirate hunter’s ambition is unique as it is a tribute to his childhood friend Shimotsuki Kuina.

Over the ten-year series, Zoro has grown significantly in strength as he has focused like a sword point on becoming the strongest swordsman in the world. However, it was not only him who rose during the great adventure, as every member of the Straw Hat Pirates crew has grown significantly.

Although Oda-Sensei has made our favorite characters significantly stronger, they are still not unstoppable, as these abilities not only bring great power, but also great risks that can even mean death.

Eiichiro Oda hinders three members of the Straw Hat group by giving them insurmountable power

Eiichiro Oda’s A piece mainly revolves around Monkey D. Luffy and his big dream of conquering the One Piece and becoming King of the Pirates. The series has been running since 1995 and the adventure is far from over.

Fans who have watched the series from the beginning will know that all of the crew members have become stronger, especially Monkey D. Luffy, Tony Chopper, and Roronoa Zoro. While Oda-sensei has been kind enough to make the characters incredibly strong in order to find the treasure, he puts them at immense risk to compensate.

A well-known channel on YouTube (@The.Animaze) talks about this idea; the creator explained that “Power-ups always come with enormous costs” and described how these newfound abilities harmed their users.

The creator described the Moss Head’s ability as “King of Hell” as follows: “unstoppable,” but it carries a deadly risk: “Excessive use could actually kill him.” He demonstrated this ability in his fight against King, where he defeated the Lunarian, but was unable to stay on his feet because the physical strain was too great and he saw the Grim Reaper coming towards him.

The topic shifted from physical abilities to the awakening of the Devil Fruit, which gives its user the ability to cause disasters but consumes a lot of stamina in return. The creator talked about the disadvantages of using Monster Points, which Chopper uses to turn into a monster. However, once the effects of the drug wear off, he will be temporarily paralyzed.

Likewise, Monkey D. Luffy has gained the ability to enhance his movement and agility by switching Gears. This ability was first shown in the Enies Lobby Arc. Gear 2 would give the Straw Hat a boost in strength and speed, but shorten his life.

The risk is not limited to Gear 2, because Gear 4 will not only reduce his stamina, but also his Haki “it leaves him exhausted.” Fans were impressed by this little detail and left positive comments on the video.

A piece Fans react to the dark aspect of power-ups

While other shonen series typically don’t have disadvantages to power-ups, Eiichiro Oda’s decision to give disadvantages to abilities balanced the narrative, which has continued to keep audiences hooked to the series.

With The.Animaze you will learn interesting facts about the title and the characters, with an equally balancing negative aspect preventing the heroes from winning.

@elvisjahic2003 commented: “One Piece is one of the few animes where the power-ups are tied to risks. And that’s cool”

@JessicaMorris-ne6yu commented: “Awakening a Zoan carries a great risk of losing the user’s personality. Any equipment Luffy uses shortens his life.”

@kitkatroblox commented: “Don’t worry, guys. If Zoro dies, he will get lost on the way to heaven and will have to return to life.”

@thatkoala commented: “Brother Luffy used Gear 2 over 10 times at Impel Down”

@viaraulito commented: “That’s one of the things I like about One Piece. The risk is higher than ever when Luffy uses his equipment. This shit shortens his lifespan, slowly kills him, and wears him out in the process. This isn’t shit he can just throw out every day.”

Still, fans can’t get enough of Oda-sensei’s outstanding work, having grown up with the series and can’t wait for the day when Luffy and his crew members achieve their respective goals.

A piece can be streamed on Crunchyroll.
