Southwest adds additional flights for 2024 college football season; new nonstop service to Texas in 2025

Southwest Airlines has added more flights to its fall schedule to support college football fans traveling to some exciting SEC (Southeastern Conference) and Big 12 matchups this upcoming season.

The Dallas-based company this week announced new flights between Tampa and Austin for the Nov. 9 showdown between the University of Florida and the University of Texas at Austin.

Although Southwest is the official airline of the SEC, it has added some routes to other conferences since July due to customer demand.

Texas Tech University fans in the Dallas area will be pleased to hear that there will be more flight options to Lubbock, saving them the five-hour trip to northwest Texas to watch the Colorado University Buffaloes play Tech’s Red Raiders on November 9.

Southwest offers several other flights throughout the season for football fans to attend major games like the Las Vegas Kickoff Classic on September 1. There are flights to Harry Reid International Airport from Dallas Love Field Airport and Houston William P. Hobby Airport.

Additional flights for the Longhorns’ SEC games include options from Dallas and Austin to Detroit for the game against the University of Michigan on September 7 and round-trip flights between Atlanta and Austin for the highly anticipated home game against the University of Georgia on October 19.

Southwest also recently announced new nonstop service that will begin on March 6, 2025. This includes a weekday route between Austin and Milwaukee and a weekend route between Austin and Reno, Nevada.

The full schedule through April 2025 can be found on the Southwest website.
