Marvel’s House of Harkness Infinity Comic Description #1 reads: “For the first sixteen years of her life, Agatha Harkness ruled unchallenged at the House of Harkness, the magical boarding school her family has run for sixteen generations. Enter Wanda Maximoff, a latecomer with raw natural talent and a drive to exceed expectations. What do you get when you put the two together? An intense rivalry that could shake the foundations of the institution they call home!”
Preeti Chhibber Discussed Infinity Comic ‘House of Harkness’
Chhibber spoke about introducing new versions of iconic magical Marvel characters and revealed how she found a balance between her new and familiar elements. “The beauty of writing comic book characters is that they’re constantly changing depending on who’s on the creative team,” she said. “Spidey written by Dan Slott isn’t necessarily going to feel the same as Spidey written by Stephanie Williams. I like that, because that makes a character with over sixty years of history feel constantly new.”
Chhibber continued, “So we find the fundamental truths and hold on to them, but anything else is allowed. Wanda is determined, she’s a fighter, she knows what she wants and is willing to do whatever it takes to get it. Only now she’s doing it at 16 years old in a magic school. The fun part is making sure those fundamental truths continue to exist and how they’re influenced by a whole new universe.”
The House of Harkness The author also discussed the nature of the relationship between Wanda and Agatha in the series. “I mentioned it above, but in this series they are definitely rivals. You find out why in the first issue, but in this case it is very much about a talented and ambitious newcomer versus an established number one,” she explained.
