From 5 to 29 September, Salone del Mobile.Milan lands in new York with Italian design: from classic to moderna special installation in collaboration with Bloomingdale’s Department Store that celebrates the best of Italian design. The initiative, part of the New York department store From Italy, with love Project, will feature icons and new products from 23 Made in Italy brands, in an ambience curated by Ferruccio Laviani and inspired by the metaphysical squares of Giorgio de Chirico.
The event will take place on the sixth floor of Bloomingdale’s in New York and aims to offer a comprehensive experience into the world of Italian design, with objects from the catalogues of companies such as Artemide, Edra, Flexform, Flou, Foscarini and much more. The exhibition space, which has been transformed into a sequence of wings and screens reminiscent of the works of De Chirico, is a tribute to the heritage the Salone, Italian creativity and the design expertise of the exhibiting companies.
Accompanying the installation is a rich lecture programme entitled Conversations about Italian designcurated by Annalisa RossoEditor-in-chief and cultural advisor of the Salone. Guests include Maria PorroPresident of the Salone del Mobile.Milano, Kelley CarterFashion Director of Bloomingdale’s, Marva Griffin WilshireCurator and founder of SaloneSatellite and architect Ferruccio Laviani.
The lectures will cover topics such as the value of the Salone del Mobile as a driver of development in the sector, the role of Italian companies in the global market and the relationship between contemporary design and classical culture. It is an opportunity for the New York design community and design lovers to immerse themselves in the world of Made in Italy and discover the latest trends in the sector.
