OpenAI plans to launch its next-generation artificial intelligence product in the fall.
The product, called “Strawberry,” will be able to solve problems and tasks that go beyond the capabilities of current AI models, Seeking Alpha reported Tuesday (27 August) citing a paywall Article by The Information.
Strawberry will be able to solve mathematical problems it has never faced before; perform sophisticated tasks such as developing market strategies and solving complex word puzzles; and conduct “in-depth research,” the report said.
On July 16, it was reported that OpenAI is developing Strawberry, which aims to improve the advanced thinking skills of AI modelsalthough the exact details and timing were unclear.
“OpenAI’s pursuit of human thought is not just a technological marvel; it is a story that pushes boundaries and opens up new possibilities in every sector,” Ghazenfer MansoorFounder and CEO of Technology flowsPYMNTS said at the time. “In business, AI can dramatically transform how supply chains are managed, predict market trends with great accuracy, and deliver highly personalized customer experiences at scale.”
As part of one of the company’s recent product launches, OpenAI began rolling out an advanced Voice function for his ChatGPT platform in July. The feature uses the company’s GPT-4o model, offers hyper-realistic audio responses, and allows users to use ChatGPT to have conversations in real time with no delays and even pause them mid-sentence.
The company also launched a new SearchGPT tool on July 25 and made the prototype available to a limited test group. OpenAI said that SearchGPT promises more precise and relevant results than traditional Search enginesand provides summarized answers with source links instead of a page of links.
In July, OpenAI also released a smaller, cheaper version of its AI model ChatGPT. This version, called GPT-4o mini, was announced on July 19th and replaces the previous model GPT-3.5 Turbo.
“GPT-4o mini outperforms GPT-3.5 Turbo and other small models on academic benchmarks in both text intelligence and multimodal reasoning, and supports the same range of languages as GPT-4o,” the company said in announcing the launch. “It also shows strong performance in function calling, that can enable Developers can build applications that retrieve data or perform actions with external systems, and performance in the long-term context is improved compared to GPT-3.5 Turbo.”
