Midea 8-In-1 11QT Two-Zone Air Fryer Review – A Lifesaver in the Kitchen

REVIEW – Recently my stove decided to suffer an existential crisis. All of a sudden the stove burner decided to only work on high heat without the inner part ever turning on. The middle rear burner can’t decide if it wants to work at full power or not at all. This has put us in a bit of a dilemma when trying to prepare meals until I can either get it repaired or replaced. Luckily for me and my family the Midea 8-In-1 11QT Two-Zone Air Fryer Oven became available for testing and I was able to snag it. I was hoping that this would buy me some time to replace the stove and still be able to cook for a family of six. Let’s see how this works out.

What is that?

The Midea 8-in-1 11QT Dual Zone Air Fryer Oven features a 6-quart upper frying basket and a lower conventional toaster oven, allowing users to deep fry, grill, dehydrate, bake, roast, broil, reheat and toast.

Design and features

The Midea 8-in-1 11QT Dual Zone Air Fryer Oven features two separate, independent cooking areas. The first is the spacious upper 6-quart air fryer and the second is a lower traditional toaster oven. Both can reach up to 400 F.

It lets you fry, grill, dehydrate, bake, roast, roast, reheat or toast two different dishes at once. It even features Midea’s so-called Sync Finish technology, which allows you to synchronize the air fryer and oven together so that both zones finish at the same time, regardless of settings, time or temperature.

It has both touch controls and a dial to adjust your needs and both work well.

And no, your eyes aren’t playing tricks on you, that’s a WiFi icon between the temperature settings. That’s right! You can connect it to your home network and control it with an app. It’s the same app I discussed in my Midea U-shaped air conditioner review. So now I can control both units from one app and play a real prank on the rest of my family.

Assembly, installation, setup

The Midea 8-in-1 11QT Dual Zone Air Fryer Oven requires no assembly. Just unbox, wash the trays and plug in. Connecting wirelessly to the Midea 8-in-1 11QT Dual Zone Air Fryer Oven is also easy. All I had to do was open the MSmartHome app, which is available for Android and iOS, turn on the air fryer and then add the new device. Once I did that, I was notified that a firmware update was available, so I followed the prompts to complete this.

The MSmartHome app is neatly laid out and easy to use. You can select the zone, method, temperature and time for cooking directly in the app. From here you can also set the sync function. They have also included some recipes in case you need a little inspiration or are just wondering how something could be cooked.

Performance

Of all the appliances I’ve tested since I became a gadgeteer, this one has been the most used by my family. We were gifted a smaller air fryer years ago that the kids used. They loved it and were disappointed when it died. Yes, I’ve lost a number of appliances recently. With the Midea 8-In-1 11QT Two-Zone Air Fryer Oven, even I’ve become a heavy user. It’s nice to have the larger space in the air fryer, and the bottom toaster oven is great since we can cook two dishes at once. Of course, the first thing to cook in the Midea 8-In-1 11QT Two-Zone Air Fryer Oven was frozen snacks, but since the stovetop wouldn’t cooperate anymore, the first real dish I cooked in it was chicken wings. I was pleasantly surprised that they turned out crispy and juicy. We also used it over the oven when possible to reduce heat gain in the kitchen. My daughter found a recipe for chicken thighs with soy sauce and honey. They turned out perfectly.

We also liked baked potatoes and onions, so of course we prepared those too.

I admit that we haven’t taken full advantage of the sync option yet. We usually use it when there isn’t enough room in the top basket to cook everything at once. We put the rest in the bottom basket and sync it with the top one. Cleaning is easy as the basket has a non-stick coating. A quick wipe with a washcloth and dish soap and then rinse is enough. The only minor thing I can complain about is that the touch control panel collects fingerprints very easily. Other than that, the Midea has been a lifesaver for my family.

What I like about the Midea 8-In-1 11QT Two-Zone Air Fryer

  • Quality of Midea products
  • 2 separate zones for cooking
  • Large cooking surfaces
  • Clear app

What needs to be improved?

Final thoughts

I had never heard of Midea before the air conditioner I tested. Now I have two of their products and I’m happy with both. If the Midea 8-in-1 11QT Dual Zone Air Fryer Oven lasts as long as our gifted model, then I’ll be thrilled. We’re still learning how to get the most out of it, but so far we’ve had great results with everything we’ve cooked in it. And as if all that wasn’t enough, the price is very reasonable too.
