I was disinvited from a wedding after spending ,000 on flights

I hereby declare your invitation invalid.

A Reddit user with the username @Powerful-Lettuce-999 posted online that she was disinvited from her friend’s wedding after paying over $1,000 for her flight to Asia.

The user shared her unfortunate scenario on August 25, detailing the disheartening feeling she felt when she learned she could no longer attend the bride’s celebration.

“I’m so embarrassed because I’ve already told my friends and family that I’m invited to a wedding abroad and telling people I’m not invited is so embarrassing,” she wrote.

As the wedding date approached, the bride contacted her circle of friends and informed them that she did not have enough accommodation for them and therefore they could not attend.

“Hey guys, I’m so sorry to tell you this but I don’t have any accommodation left for all of you for the wedding. I’m truly sorry. I hope you all haven’t booked tickets yet,” the friend wrote.

The Reddit user was devastated by the news and sent her a private message telling her that she had already planned to attend the long-distance wedding.

“I literally just booked my tickets and everything three days ago because our agent knew something and found out,” she wrote. “I’m going to try to cancel but I don’t think that’s possible. I understand space was limited for family and stuff so it’s fine, no worries.”

Although the uninvited wedding guest was disappointed, he tried to show understanding for the unfortunate situation.

Fortunately, she did not have to remain in mourning for long, because the bride gave in and assured her: “She will think of something” so that her friend could attend the wedding.

Her only condition, however, was to keep it a secret from her other, uninvited friends.

“Please don’t tell the rest of the group. She said the hotel staff wouldn’t take care of accommodation or anything like that,” the bride said.

The secrecy pact didn’t feel right, so she considered not going.

“I have a bad feeling about all this. I wish she had at least sent out the wedding invitations. If they can’t provide accommodation, I would understand and book my own accommodation,” she revealed.

The Reddit user claimed that if she canceled her flight, she might be able to get a partial refund, but if she attended the wedding, she would feel guilty because her friends wouldn’t be able to attend.

Not knowing what to do, she asked her Reddit colleagues for help: “Please give me some advice?”

“If I had already paid for the tickets, I would go on a short vacation whether she wants me to be at the wedding or not,” one person suggested.

“This makes me think she invited way more people than she could accommodate and didn’t realize that so many people would actually come to her overseas wedding,” wrote another.

“Are there no hotels or Airbnbs in the area?” asked one Reddit user.

The original poster replied, “There are a ton. That’s why I’m confused. So I’m going to ask them again if it’s about accommodations or the size of the wedding in general.”

“You shouldn’t be ashamed in the slightest, but your boyfriend should be horrified. What he did is incredibly rude,” one person commented.

“Fuck this ‘friend’. If you can’t cancel your flight, change it and go somewhere else. Life is too short to have people like that,” one Redditor explained.
