Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca announced ahead of Sunday’s game at Wolves that Romeo Lavia had suffered another injury setback.
The 20-year-old midfielder has started just one game for the Blues since joining from Southampton for £58 million this time last year.
Due to an ankle injury and subsequent thigh problems, Lavia only played once last season – a half-hour cameo in the 2-1 win over Crystal Palace in December.
He started in the 2-0 defeat to Manchester City last weekend and then came on as a substitute again in the Europa Conference League on Thursday.
However, due to irritation of his thigh muscles, Lavia was not in the squad on Sunday.

When asked to provide further information on Lavia’s recent injury, Maresca said: “Hopefully it’s nothing too serious.”
Lavia played in 29 Premier League games for Southampton in the 2022–23 season.
He previously made two appearances for Man City’s first team between September 2021 and January 2022 – both in domestic cup competitions.
