This lecture is offered in conjunction with “Color and Clay: The Art and Life of Sarah Holl,” on view August 8–November 10, 2024.
Sarah Holl, recipient of the CCMoA Artist Muse Award, presents a comprehensive collection of her colorful paintings and ceramic sculptures inspired by human and animal forms as well as the natural environment.
Sarah Holl is an innovative mixed media painter and ceramicist who began her career working with clay at her family’s Scargo Pottery on Cape Cod. Sarah’s early influences were her grandfather, Swiss-born American sculptor Arnold Geissbuhler, her father and artist Harry Holl who co-founded the Cape Cod Museum of Art, Sam Feinstein, and Cynthia Packard. Her evolution as an artist began working with clay with large-scale ceramic installations that can be found in many collections including the Cape Cod Hospital. Sarah has exhibited numerous works in public spaces around Cape Cod and currently works in her studio in the Village of Dennis. Sarah attended the Art Institute of Boston. She shares her passion for the arts daily by mentoring numerous interns and teaching life drawing and portrait painting classes in her studio. Sarah is committed to the arts and continues to explore new methods for her creativity.
Cancellation Policy: Cape Cod Museum of Art must be notified one week in advance for a refund.
