Chargers players and staff rescued from stuck elevator in Dallas hotel before preseason game

On Friday, several players and staff members of the Los Angeles Chargers suffered injuries before their preseason Matchup against the Dallas Cowboys. The franchise released further details about the incident.

“On Friday evening around 7:30 p.m. CT, several players and members of the Chargers travel party were trapped in a malfunctioning elevator at the team hotel,” the statement was“The Dallas Fire Department responded to the incident and then assisted everyone, one at a time, out of the elevator through the ceiling slab and into an adjacent elevator.

“The Los Angeles Chargers thank Dallas Fire-Rescue for their quick response, professionalism and significant efforts to ensure the safety of everyone.”

The Chargers have not disclosed which players or staff members were stuck in the elevator. Additionally, the franchise has not disclosed which hotel the incident occurred at.

This is not the first time The catastrophe has almost occurred an NFL team stayed at a hotel this preseason. On Tuesday, Oxnard Fire and Police were called to the Dallas Cowboys’ training camp at the River Ridge Residence Inn because a fire broke out in one of the guest rooms.

“This afternoon, there was a fire emergency in one of the guest rooms at the team’s hotel in Oxnard, California,” a press release said. “The emergency was confined to one room, which was vacant at the time, and there were no injuries. The Dallas Cowboys thank the Oxnard Fire Department and Police Department for their quick response to the situation.”

The Cowboys were preparing for an afternoon walk when the fire broke out. When the Cowboys stay at the River Ridge Residence Inn, no other guests are allowed into the hotel. Access is strictly limited to Cowboys players, staff and personnel.

After the fire was under control, Cowboys head coach Michael McCarthy commented on the wild situation.

“That’s the beauty of the National Football League,” McCarthy said. “When you think you’ve seen it all, sometimes things like this happen. It’s a very unfortunate situation. Thankfully, no one was hurt.”

Now that they’ve had so much bad luck, the Cowboys and Chargers may put on an impressive show on Saturday when they face off in their final preseason meeting. The two teams will square off at 4 p.m. ET. The game will be broadcast on the NFL Network.
