Q:1 In the following figure, two concentric circles have the center O. Their radii are R and (R + 6) cm respectively.

Q:2 Vitthal went on a long bike ride from his home to a nearby mountain and back. The ride to the mountain started with a 40 km flat road and then a 25 km uphill climb.

When driving uphill, his average speed decreased by 10 km/h compared to the flat road, resulting in an additional half hour of driving time. However, on the flat road, he maintained the same average speed in both directions.

i) Find the time taken by Vitthal to reach the end of the 65 km uphill stretch.

ii) If it took him 2 1/2 hours to get home from the mountain, find his average speed on the way down. Show your work.

Case study

Study the information provided and answer the following questions.

Bangalore Municipal Corporation is building parks in residential areas across the city. Below is one such park. The rectangular park consists of various elements like a walkway, a children’s playground, an open gym, a pond, etc.

Q:3 Gate 3 was placed exactly opposite Gate 1 on the border of the park. The distance between Gate 3 and Gate 2 is 1 m greater than the distance between Gate 3 and Gate 2. The shortest distance between Gate 1 and Gate 2 is 29 m. Find the width of the park. Show your work.

Q:4 The park ranger is trying to plant seedlings in the shape of a square. That is, the number of rows of seedlings is equal to the number of columns of seedlings. When arranging the seedlings, he found that he had 24 seedlings left. When he increased the number of rows and columns by 1, he found that he was missing 25 seedlings. Find out the number of seedlings he has at his disposal. Show your work.

Q:5 The municipality plans to install a rectangular sand table as shown below for the children in the play area. The carpenter is requested to design a rectangular table whose length is three times its width and whose area is 108 m².
