Baseball players take their fantasy football seriously. Maybe a little too seriously, considering Tommy Pham’s feud with Joc Pederson a few years ago that led him to call Mike Trout the worst commissioner in fantasy sports.
But sometimes they have fun with it, especially around the draft. Last year, we saw Orioles manager Brandon Hyde make the ball toss to determine the draft order for the first time in 17 years. This year, the Oakland Athletics upped the ante with a ball toss from the center field stands of the Oakland Coliseum, also known as Mount Davis. You know, the area covered with those green tarps.
The goal was to get the ball as close as possible to a ring in the flat outfield. It was brilliant.

Judging by Scott Alexander’s reaction, we know who secured the first pick and the chance to recruit Christian McCaffrey.
